Slow Stitching....

Even though I haven't posted lately I have been working on some of my Hexies.   When I finally decided what I wanted to do for the background on my 2014 Hexie BOM I went right to work getting some of the fabric cut and basted.  

And since I've run out of this particular fabric I'll have to make a run to our LQS.  I'm planning on an assortment of different black on blacks.   And my plan is to scatter all the different black fabrics throughout the quilt.

Here's just a couple of the blocks that I've outlined.  More to come later after I have more fabric.  

In the meantime I got out my other project and started working up some more of the blocks.  

This is as far as I've gotten on the quilt when I last put it aside.  I do have more blocks made just not sewn to the quilt.

Since I've started hexie(ing) I can't sit and watch TV now without them in my hands.  Love working on them. 

I think I'll spend a little time at the machine today but then settle back in my reclyner and enjoy my hexis today/tonight.

Hexie BOM ....

I have finally finished the last of the 2014 Hexie BOM and now have to make a decision on how I want to finish them.  I keep thinking I want to tie them all together with a single background color of hexies ..... but I keep hesitating for some reason.  Oh Well!  More pondering I guess.

Here is the Dec "block".   It was fun and fast.

Sadly I just found out that two of the sites that I enjoyed linking too are no longer posting their linkups.  Soooo Looks like I'll be checking the web to see if I can find any others.

My Slow Stitching Sunday....

Of course a good game of football is always on.  Go Packers!  That allows me to be able to stitch on my hexies.  I have now finished the Nov Hexie BOM.   I am completely caught up after being soooo far behind.  Feels good!

Now I'm working on more diamond blocks for this quilt.   I do have a few more finished but I'll wait to post an update until I get more sewn together.

Hexies .... update .... again

Two more "blocks" finished on the Hexie BOM.

This is Septembers 'block'.  It's supposed to be a Bluebird but
I decided to make mine a red Cardinal.  We have them at our
feeders in the back yard and I enjoy them so much.

This is October and is a Candy Corn.  After I had most of the
brown hexies sewn together I realized I should have used cream
instead of brown.  But I'm sticking with the pattern color as she designed.

Now I'm getting ready to cut my fabric to get Novembers block finished so I'll be caught up.

Hexie update...

I haven't been sewing much at my machine lately ..... but I have been doing a LOT of sitting with an ice bag on my knee.  So that gave me the perfect opportunity to catch up on my Hexie BOM.
Two more months finished:

 July

August

And..... I'm almost finished with September.  Yay for me!  I did have a lot of TV programs that I could catch up on so that's good.
About my knee???  I don't know!  All I know was it hurt like He!!
 I've now had an x-ray taken and this week an MRIwill be scheduled.
Doc did give me a cortisone shot in the knee so that calmed the pain.

My Hexie BOM Update....

Yes I'm behind!!  Very behind!  Four months behind actually.
But I did manage to finish one more design from the Hexie Blog.
I think this one is June.

 And I'm now working on July.

Hexie BOM...

Not only did I not do any blogging these last few months .... I also didn't work on my Hexie's.
Soooo A few days ago I did finish up the (May) butterfly I had started.  Here's a link to the Hexie BOM if you're interested.
  I did make a little change to the original butterfly pattern and made my butterfly a swallowtail.  We always have a big yellow Tiger Swallowtail in our backyard every year so I'm a bit partial to them.

I still need to embroidery the antenna ... but I'll do that later.
  I did spend a few hours this afternoon cutting the fabric for the next two months hexie BOM patterns.  So hopefully I can get caught up soon.

April Hexie BOM

This months Hexie block is a 'Basket'.   I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it too.
I did have to dig around a bit before I found the fabric I was looking for. 
This will show it up close....

I thought I could make it look like the basket was woven and I think it kinda looks that way if I use my imagination.  hahaha   

Here's a pic of it completed on that black background (that I still don't have cut up and basted)  Maybe next month.

Good Monday Morning....

One week of the Olympics are over and I still don't have anything on my design wall.  That's because I haven't been in my sewing room to do any machine sewing.    Glued to the TV.   Just like I knew I would be.

I have been hand sewing though.  Working on my Hexie BOM off and on.   Sometimes it's a little hard to get too many hexies sewn together when I find myself caught up in all the action in Sochi.

Of course this month the Hexie BOM is all about hearts and after choosing several different red fabrics (of course) I quickly basted and sorted the hexies so no two would be touching.
And ..... because of my love for the Olympics and for hexies..... I decided to add just a little to this block to always remember what I was doing while sewing this one together.
Embroidery is really not my thing but I did the best I could.   I can still hear my grandma telling me to rip it out and take smaller stitches.  Sorry grandma.  It is what it is!  And it's mine and I love it!

Feb block done ..... so now I'm going to add my hexie block to the Hexie BOM Yahoo Group

Hexies... Snowflake .... and BOM

Over the years I've made my share of BOM quilts.  Some I've finished and some I haven't.  But I've stopped joining them these last several years simply because I'd rather make quilts my way.

But .... now there's a Hexie BOM  over at The Hexie Blog .... and I must do it!! 

January's block is a Snowflake    and here's mine.  I used four different fabrics.  I'm thinking I may use a black background for these monthly blocks.  Of course that's always subject to change.  LOL
