Good Monday Morning....

One week of the Olympics are over and I still don't have anything on my design wall.  That's because I haven't been in my sewing room to do any machine sewing.    Glued to the TV.   Just like I knew I would be.

I have been hand sewing though.  Working on my Hexie BOM off and on.   Sometimes it's a little hard to get too many hexies sewn together when I find myself caught up in all the action in Sochi.

Of course this month the Hexie BOM is all about hearts and after choosing several different red fabrics (of course) I quickly basted and sorted the hexies so no two would be touching.
And ..... because of my love for the Olympics and for hexies..... I decided to add just a little to this block to always remember what I was doing while sewing this one together.
Embroidery is really not my thing but I did the best I could.   I can still hear my grandma telling me to rip it out and take smaller stitches.  Sorry grandma.  It is what it is!  And it's mine and I love it!

Feb block done ..... so now I'm going to add my hexie block to the Hexie BOM Yahoo Group
And for fun (and since it's Monday) I'll be linking over on Judy's Design Wall Monday.
And an updated link.... HELP for Hexie-aholics

    1. HAHAHA Perhaps. Although I do have to say .... you didn't know my grandma. ;-)
She prided herself on being prim & proper and a young lady always made proper stitches. Boy did I ever fool her. LOL
I'm glad you like it though. Thanks. lol

  3. A agree, It's good to have some hand sewing to do when you can't (or don't want to) get to the machine. I haven't been following the Olympics, although in Holland it's difficult to miss the skating news.

    1. I think that's why I fell in love with Hexies. I can easily grab a few in the evenings while watching some mindless TV program. lol
Awww Holland! For some reason I have always been fascinated by Holland. The closest I'll ever get to visiting your home country is a place called 'New Holland' here in the states. We went there in the spring several years ago when the tulips were in full bloom. It's probably not really like your Holland but it was sure fun to think it was and I loved it.
Thanks for the swell of memories.

  4. I think it's a great idea to add the Olympic rings to your project. In fact it would be a great year long addition to all the BOM to record what you were doing as you made the blocks. I still need to pick my Feb BOM fabric but I remembered yesterday that I have several choco fabrics which I think will be a good choice. Now I just have to find some time to dig them out :)

    1. That sounds like an idea .... Although It might be a little difficult coming up with something to signify daily naps or all around boredom during most months. hahaha
I'll keep your suggestion in mind. heehee

    1. Thanks for coming by and leaving me your comment. I'm so sorry that tonight will be the last night. Each time they air I'm always so amazed at the ability of the athletes. Such dedication and commitment.
I bet there are a lot of us that are sharing our hand work with the TV time.

  8. I am loving how your hexie blocks are coming out, Linda! Admire the effort you are putting into them too as those pieces have got to be sooo small. Hope you fared okay in this latest weather event.

    1. Thanks Linda. I've kinda fallen behind on working my hexies lately. Seems like there has been so many other things that has taken up my spare time. But I'm ready to get back to hexing. The size I'm working with are 1". That's plenty small enough for me.
Hope you're doing ok. Keeping you in my thoughts and sending prayers.
