Backing finished...

IMG_1862 After taking this quilt to the quilters where I usually pick out some backing fabric and then let them do their thing …. this time I really didn't like any of the backings (for this quilt) so I decided to bring it back home and piece one.

Now …. keep in mind that I had a limited amount of fabric with which I could put together a backing.

Too bad I didn't keep that in mind!!!

I knew I had 6 snowmen blocks left over and it sure looked like I would have plenty of both of the blues.  So I planned a quick layout and started cutting strips.   And sewing those blocks and strips together.  As I cut one strip after another I began to realize the fabric was dwindling fast.
UH OH!!  Maybe I had better start measuring.
I measured and remeasured and called my gals to find out exactly how many inches they needed all around the quilt.  And then I remeasured again and kept in mind that if I needed to I could always add an extender strip just to give them the extra inches they need (she suggested this for me.  Told me not to worry)  So I didn't and just kept merrily cutting and sewing away.

This is the backing all sewn and ready to take back to the girls.  Looks plenty big enough wouldn't you say.  Would you like to know how much fabric I had left?

2 x 7 inches of dark blue & 2 x 10 inches of light blue!

Whew!!

Off to the quilters.....

Tea Pot Pad & Mug Rugs....

After getting all the quilting finished I needed to audition some fabrics for the binding.  I knew I didn't want a red or white plain binding so I started pulling some colors that I thought might work.
No No No

Ummm No....

?? Ummm Maybe ...

I kinda like this one..... But....

Nope.
Sooooo since I wasn't liking any of these I started digging around in the black/white pile and found this one.

Yep!  This is the one.

The Tea Pot Pad is 9" and the Mug Rugs are 6" each.
One Auction item done and two more to go.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Half square triangles....

A couple of days ago I was in between projects and really wasn't ready to start another snuggle quilt just yet.
So I started cleaning a small area of my sewing room and as I moved a little plastic drawer.... that was all it took to inspire me.

Enough cleaning..... it was time to play.  These little half squares are over two years old so it's about time I did something with them.
But what???

Well ...... what else except Pinwheels!!

Once I had made several blocks I trimmed them down to 3".
I still hadn't decided exactly what I was going to make with these cute little pinwheels so I just kept sewing and sewing.

Then I pulled some white fabric and cut a 1" strip to use as sashing.

Yep!  That works.....

Stay tuned ...... Today I plan on getting this little project finished and hopefully get started on the quilting.

I hope you're having a great day.

Monday on my wall....

Believe it or not I have actually finished putting the borders on this snuggle quilt. Tomorrow it goes to the girls for quilting.   I have no idea why it took me so long to get back to this and finish it up.  ;o(
#2 Christmas Snuggle.

Today will be a bit of cleaning and then off to start on at least one of the guild auction items I will be donating.   I think I know what I want to make but just as soon as I say that then I change my mind.  Sheesh!!
I'm grabbing my cuppa and heading over to Judy's Design Wall to link up.  Come join us.....
I hope you're having a great day.

Gone...gone....

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

So I guess Google Reader is going to be gone soon.  At first I kinda panicked.  But it took less than 12 hours to find another home for all of the blogs I read each day.
Bloglovin fits me just fine.  And it is soooo simple to transfer the blogs.  I have all of my favorite blogs transferred and separated into my favorite categories that work for me.
AND.... I like the layout of Bloglovin even better than Reader.  Yeah!!

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Another Monday....

And I'm going to be linking over on Judy's Design Wall Monday.
I've managed to get all of the blocks finished for this Christmas snuggle.

All that is left to do now is the borders.  I had toyed with the idea of doing something extra with the borders but when I added several different ones with EQ7 I really didn't like any of them with this design.  So I settled on simple.
I'll be sewing them on this week and then it goes to the girls for quilting.

This should qualify for our Leisurely Race To Christmas (with Squirrels Allowed) that my Left-Handed Quilter blogging friend and I are doing again this year.
She did such a great job of posting the *rules* for our LRTCwSA that I decided to just link to her post here.   And I'm inviting all of you to join us as we happily sew along in this laid back leisurely race.  hahaha
Get those Christmas fabrics pulled!!  It's later than you think.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Slow Sunday Stitching .....

And that's exactly what I have been doing...... slowly stitching my hexies together this week.  I was so wanting to get all of the 'flowers' connected and I did finally get to that point.  Still have to fill in the blanks but at least it is now as big as it's going to get.

Well except for the border.... and I'm still pondering that.   I'm not sure I like that border fabric to go all the way around.  I may take off those few hexies and try to find a different color that will look better.  The more I look at it the more I think those are just too light.  Maybe a darker will be better.
What do you think?
Or... what if I put one in between each of the 'flowers' and then border with half/hexies in a dark color????
Hummmm.....that might work......
Any other ideas?

So for now (while I'm pondering) I'm heading over to Kathy's Quilts to link up to her Slow Sunday Stitching.
And then I'm going to get back to the book I'm reading on my Kindle.
But that's another post for another day....  heehee
I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda
