The modified Bento Box that I was working on (here) is now a finished top!!  It certainly took me long enough .... but I finally put on the last border yesterday.

Six borders.
Here's a closer look at them.
All blue borders are 1" finished and the scrappy border measures 3".
The first red floral is 5" and the outside is 7".

Now I'm taking my coffee and heading over to Judy's Design Wall Monday.
See you there.......

WooHoo!!  Decision made!
And I'm using none of the ideas from last week.
Well....maybe just one little idea that I liked I'm keeping.

After all that playing around with those assorted strips....and your very generous suggestions (thank you very much)..... I just wasn't moved by that design.
You see, I really like this fabric line and I'm super pleased with this pattern and I want to expand this quilt to a nice generous Queen size.
I also know that I don't want to just slap a bunch of plain borders on it to make it bigger like I usually do.
I want the borders to make their own statement yet compliment the Bento Box without swallowing it up.
Soooo I went back to the drawing board (which I don't actually have) and came up with a whole new idea.
I know!  I know!!  But that's what my mind does best....Change!

Here's the start of the new design for the borders that I'll be sewing for awhile.
1" strips sewn together to measure 3½" squares and 2" squares to make a four patch.

So now it looks like this will take me awhile to get finished with all the piecing I'll be doing.... so for now I'm heading over to link up with Judy's Design Wall.
Join me there..... and....

This is the way I left my Terra Tumbler for several weeks.  Sorry about the bad lighting.
At this size I knew I wanted to enlarge it a bit more so I started looking for a border fabric.  The background fabric I have just didn't look right.  It was too light and didn't contain the scrappy blocks like I wanted.

Nothing I had in my stash worked either.  The blues I have were too pure and the rusts were already taken for the 2nd quilt I'm in the process of making now.
So I decided a nice dark chocolate would be just right.  Off to the LQS (which isn't local at all).  And I found the just right color.

Two more borders added and this is a finished top and now I'm happy.
It's about 85"x92" and should fit a full bed nicely.

Happy Monday!!  Another week starting and I have another one of my quilts almost finished.
I think it's time to give it a name.  I've decided to call it 'A Terra Tumbler'.  (Aqua Terra fabric & tumbler block)  So very original don't you think.  ;o)
I now have all the scrappy borders sewn on and it doesn't matter how hard I try there always seems to be a few squares that should have been moved to another area.
But that's the nice thing about scrappy I think.  I can make all kids of mistakes and it still looks good.

Since I can't get a full picture of the quilt while it's on my design wall .....my dining room floor will suffice for now.    So far it measures about 70" x 80".
I could stop here and just call it good.....or..... I'm thinking about adding another small light blue border and then a larger border made with the same background fabric I put around the tumblers.   I think another 7" to 9" per side will bring it to the size I'd rather have.   I'm going to ponder awhile.

So since it's Monday and Judy's Design Wall has a bunch of beautiful quilts linked there you really should grab a cuppa and head on over.  Maybe I'll see you there.
Have a great day!!
