2nd wedding quilt.....

On October 4th our family celebrated the second wedding this year.  Jess & Grant were married in Joplin.  Jessi is our granddaughter.  She chose a Gatsby theme for the reception and for the wedding her bridesmaids wore Taupe and the groomsmen wore black.  And then she added a touch of red .... Her lips and the red roses she carried.  The wedding ceremony was wonderful and the reception decorations were beautiful.   Sorry I don't have any pics to show you so I'll just move on to the quilt I made them.
The morning after the wedding a few of the family gathered in one of the rooms and the newlyweds opened the gifts that they received at the wedding.   Since Jess knew which gift was from me she wanted to open it last.    And of course they love it!!  lol

I originally made some of these blocks as a paper pieced BOM mystery from Carol Doak.   I needed several more blocks to make the quilt larger so when I made more blocks I reversed the colors and added a bit of red.

Jessi, Grant and his mom are admiring the quilting that shows up so well on the black backing.  I had the Quilt Bugs use a gold thread.   So glad I chose that ..... It's gorgeous!

They love the label I added.

May I present the beautiful Mr & Mrs Conrad
with their wedding quilt made with LOVE!!

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

One caught up.....

I had gotten several months behind with my BOM's for one reason or another.   So when our big snow storm hit I decided to go back in my sewing room and sit by my nice warm iron and sew.   It took me a couple of days but I did get caught up on Carol Doak's BOM,   Now just waiting for the end clue and how to set it together.
I have really enjoyed making all of these paper pieced blocks and have learned a lot.  I'm no longer afraid to tackle a block that looks too complicated because I can always paper-piece it.
Here's the blocks I've just finished.......
December's setting blocks

January's block

February's blocks.

And this is my *holding corner* for the blocks.
I still need to add Dec & Feb here

So looking forward to getting this one finished and off to a quilter.
I hope everyone is staying safe, warm and cozy during this storm.  It has now passed us after dumping about 18" and is now swirling it's way to the East.
Get those irons turned on and stay warm.  ;o)
I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Nov Carol Doak block

Here's block #7 in Carol Doak's BOM paper-piecing mystery for Nov.   After working with the smaller 4" blocks these 12"ers seem huge!  haha

I won….

along with my trusty seam ripper!  This block has now been correctly sewn and pressed and it’s looking good.  Oct 2012 Actually there’s more to this story than I’ve shared so far.    So I guess I’ll fess up…. after I had completed the first two corner sections, I forgot how the block was supposed to fit together.  (actually I just ignored the directions)  ;o(    So I proceeded to match the points and seams on those two corner sections and since they looked so good together I sewed them.   When I opened them up the border seam didn’t quite match.  So…. I ripped it out!  Re-sewed it.  It matched perfectly!  It looked sooooo good!   (I should have taken a pic
UNTIL I CHECKED THE PATTERN!!!
Yep!  I ripped it out!

Then I flipped the corner/sashing/corner section and sewed it to the middle sashing wrong!
By this time my seam ripper is starting to get a little dull.  lol
So when I tell you that there is a bit of worn ugliness on the back I’m sure you can imagine.
But the front looks great.  And done is good

There are Good days…..

And then there are bad days when some things just do not work out right.  IMG_1613
