And that's exactly what I have been doing...... slowly stitching my hexies together this week. I was so wanting to get all of the 'flowers' connected and I did finally get to that point. Still have to fill in the blanks but at least it is now as big as it's going to get.
Well except for the border.... and I'm still pondering that. I'm not sure I like that border fabric to go all the way around. I may take off those few hexies and try to find a different color that will look better. The more I look at it the more I think those are just too light. Maybe a darker will be better.
What do you think?
Or... what if I put one in between each of the 'flowers' and then border with half/hexies in a dark color????
Hummmm.....that might work......
Any other ideas?
So for now (while I'm pondering) I'm heading over to Kathy's Quilts to link up to her Slow Sunday Stitching.
And then I'm going to get back to the book I'm reading on my Kindle.
But that's another post for another day.... heehee
I hope you're having a great day.
Glad you stopped by.....Linda
What about appliqueing the whole thing to a darker background fabric for a border? It's so pretty that you could leave it as is if you want :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to SLow Sunday Stitching!
Thanks Kathy. That's a great idea and that just may be the solution. I do think I'll be un-sewing those border hexies today and audition some new fabric.
DeleteI love hexies, but don't have the patience to stitch them together. Maybe some day in my old age!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your hexies - and I agree with Quilter Kathy - take off the border hexies - and applique the whole thing to a background fabric What color background? - Well, GREEN, of course! - Flowers grown in GREEN gardens - especially pretty ones like yours. That is, if you can find a GREEN that ill go with your Aqua Terra - can't help you there - haha - ;))
ReplyDeletehahaha You crack me up!! I'm pretty sure my stash of Aqua Terra has no green. And on top of that.... neither does my living room. Which is where this will be displayed. And don't be too sure about green growing pretty flowers. You haven't seen my garden. HAHAHA
DeleteBut I have taken off all of the yucky border hexies and all the flowers have been sewn together and I decided to take a break for now. Tomorrow I'll dig in the fabric stash.
Love your hexies! You have some great suggestions from the ladies! Enjoy!
ReplyDeletehexies are a lot of work and this is going to be a wonderful runner when finished.
ReplyDeletei was going strong on a hexie project of my own last winter but it got set aside during the summer and i've yet to get back to it . . .

Love your hexies. I was thinking black for a border to set it off too. Good luck with your choices.
ReplyDeleteWonderful hexies. I love hexies so much.
