Clue #1 finished

I had quite a productive day yesterday.
I was able to finish all my 4-patches for Easy Street  mystery.
They measure 3" finished.
Just love making these little blocks.   It's so easy to get those back seams to swirl when
the patches lead with the seam allowance heading toward the needle.   But more importantly those points turn out to be just perfect every time.

And I also got this weeks Grandmother's Choice block made.    This is block #13 and a pretty easy one at that,

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Monday morning.... On Easy Street

A few weeks ago I posted about Bonnie Hunter's new upcoming mystery here.   And posted a picture of my chosen fabrics.  But just for fun (and in case any of you missed it) I'll show them again.  ;-)

I've replaced her purple with my pinks and her gray will be replaced with my purple.  But not the purple that I have in this picture.
I found a very pretty red/violet and I've started cutting and sewing.
I do have ½ of the 4-patches finished.  Need a total of 192 for this clue.

Hopefully I can get the rest of these finished later today.
I do have my last shot in my knee today but once I get home I'll be sewing up these little 3½" jewels.
So for now I'm going to link over on Quiltville to check out some of the other quilters.
And of course since it's Monday I'm going to Judy's Design Wall to link up.
Hope to see you all there.
I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

I have a finish to cross off my Hope List for our Leisurely Race to Christmas!!
My "Deck The Halls" is now a completed table topper.
Sorry about the sun glare but I was in a hurry to get the picture taken so I could dish up my dinner.   Later when I saw the pic I realized I didn't do a very good job of smoothing out the ripples.
Size approximately 37" x 40".

Here's more pictures to show you closeups.

Block Base Sew-along

Gosh I guess I forgot to post my latest block from the Block Base Sew Along.
Here is #4 .... See those little squares?  They all measure 1/2" finished.  I'm making all these blocks 4" so the pieces for these are all pretty tiny.  I'm sometimes amazed that they can even be sewn together.

Just a note about my Deck The Halls...... quilting is finished and today I should get the binding on.

PhotobucketEspecially since there will be NO cooking in this house.
Leftovers!!!

Deck The Halls {again}

The last border is finished and attached.  I know it's a little hard to see the outside white border.  Sorry.

I'll be binding it with the dark fabric after I quilt it.
Here's just a couple more pictures.....

Now I'm going to head over to Judy's Patchwork Times and link up to her Design Wall Monday.  Come along and check out some of the projects other quilters are working on.

Grandmother's Choice #10

Another week and another Grandmother's Choice block finished.  This block is week #10 and is called "Little Red Schoolhouse" and it should have been fairly easy to make.
But..... that wasn't the case for me this time.
I had a lot of senior moments and had to frog more than once.   Once I had the block finished I realized that I had printed the pattern as a mirror image.  The other day I was playing around with the properties on my printer and checked the mirror image on and played with a few printing projects....then forgot about it and left it on.
So along came the time to print this blocks paper-pieced pattern and I started right in with the sewing.
Things were going along just fine.....
Until I realized I had the windows upside down.  {so I warmed up the seam ripper}  Fixed the windows and resewed to the door.
But when I did that I sewed the *door* to the wrong side.  {seam ripper getting warmer}
Then I sewed the whole bottom section to the roof upside down.  {that blasted seam ripper was getting much to warm at this point}
My final seam resewn and this is what it's supposed to look like.   Well.... except it's backwards.
But oh well ..... it is what it is and I'm leaving it this way.

This is what the pattern is supposed to look like.

Deck the Halls....

I've been working on my next Christmas project.  A table topper made from one of the panels I have.

This is what I started with and I've decided to call it Deck The Halls.
After squaring it up I took the measurements (23" X 20") and started playing in EQ7.

I knew for sure I wanted to utilize the red & white candy stripe.  Sooooo this is what I came up with....... First the cornerstones for the first borders.

And then the candy cane stripe.....all paper-pieced (38 candy stripe squares)

One more border to go but this is what I've gotten done so far.

Now I'm heading to Judy's Design Wall Monday to link up.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Nov Carol Doak block

Here's block #7 in Carol Doak's BOM paper-piecing mystery for Nov.   After working with the smaller 4" blocks these 12"ers seem huge!  haha

Grandmother's Choice #10

The more of these blocks I make the happier I am with them.  I'm so glad I chose the American colors of Gold & Purple with a bit of black & white.
This weeks block is another nice easy one.  Here is my rendition of #10 New York.   And if you would like to read what Barbara shared with us this week just click Here.

Just for fun I thought this week I would show you the Block Base block.
It's #1383 and looks like this..... I usually open each block in EQ7 and will audition the colors until I'm satisfied.  Most of the blocks I've made by paper-piecing.... so I'll print my patterns on newsprint and start cutting my fabrics.  I get along great with this system until I run up against that dreaded Y seam.  haha

I'll try to remember to add the original picture from Block Base each week ..... if I can remember.  haha
And If you would like to check out some of the other blocks that have been made and posted in Flickr..... Click Here

What's on my Design Wall??

My finished Christmas Bows & Boughs!!  Woo Hoo!
Now it's off to my Quilt Bugs so the gals can do their thing.
OOPS... looks like I forgot to smooth down that bottom corner.  ;-)

I chose to use the green fabric for the borders.  I also have this same pattern in red but I think the red will go better with the rest of the Christmas fabrics I have left
sooooo for this quilt the green won out.

I'm heading over to Judy's Patchwork Times to link to her Design Wall Monday.  Come join us.

Bonnie Hunter's new mystery....

Last year I made Bonnie's Orca Bay mystery and renamed mine CherryLime Mash.  I loved making it and loved even more the way it turned out.  Especially since it won so many awards at our local Fair.  lol   Click here if you haven't seen it yet.

So here we are one year later and it 's almost time for Bonnie's next mystery.  She's calling this one Easy Street  ... she said because it will be much easier than last years.  I can sure handle that.  haha

She has shown us the colors that she's picked out for her quilt on this post.   I love her choices for sure..... mostly.... but ..... I have to substitute a bit to be able to pull from my stash and satisfy my control streak.  haha
These are the fabrics that I've chosen.   I have absolutely no purples left in my stash because I've pulled them to use in my Grandmother's Choice blocks.  So I'm going to be using pinks instead.  And ..... about her gray.... well that just won't be happening for me so I'm going to be picking up a couple of yards of a medium purple to use as my constant fabric.
And my last substitution is with the white.  She'll use black on white prints .... but I just don't care for all that busyness so I'll use a few white on white as my background.

So now I can get back to my sewing on my Bows & Boughs.  I'm still trying to get the rows and sashing's sewn together so I can decide on the borders.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Block Base Sew Along...

I have my third block finished and I'm enjoying these more and more the longer I work on them.  I decided at the very beginning that I wanted to make 4" blocks and it's a good thing I hadn't seen some of these blocks before I started or I might have changed my mind.  Getting all these pieces into a 4" block sometimes seems quite daunting.  I'm paper-piecing them all.
Here's the latest block #2448 Pyramids.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda
