My Hexie Project(s)

I fell in love with Hexagons the minute I made the first one.  I was seeing lots of hexie pins on Pinterest and that got me interested.
So I grabbed a piece of scrap fabric (Aqua Terra from Connecting Threads - what else???  lol ) and started cutting 2½" squares.
I had some old heavy thread that I had bought from Walmart when I first started sewing so I pulled it out of the drawer.  (I knew I'd saved it for some good reason)  haha
I started basting 1" hexie papers.  And the rest is history as they say.
This is the first project I made.....

I didn't really know what I was doing so I did a lot of Google-ing and then just did what I felt would work the best for me.

Now I'm working on a larger project.
My plan is to make at least a twin/full quilt.
So I'm in for the long haul.
This is the picture of one of the pins I saw that inspired me.  It's called Martha Washington's Flower Garden.
I'm going to expand on this idea and add some hexie borders so it will be a little different and more my vision.
I'm wondering how long it's going to take me.

Date started: June 2013

These are the first eight 'blocks' I finished.  I've made many more since then and now I've been focusing on getting the basting done so I'll have a better selection of fabrics to choose from when putting the blocks together.

This is the beginning of my quilt with a couple of the borders added.

Stay Tuned.  Much more to come.

I haven't decided exactly how I'm going to finish these blocks.
So come back later and I'll post the completed top here.
