Slow Stitching....

Even though I haven't posted lately I have been working on some of my Hexies.   When I finally decided what I wanted to do for the background on my 2014 Hexie BOM I went right to work getting some of the fabric cut and basted.
And since I've run out of this particular fabric I'll have to make a run to our LQS.  I'm planning on an assortment of different black on blacks.   And my plan is to scatter all the different black fabrics throughout the quilt.
Here's just a couple of the blocks that I've outlined.  More to come later after I have more fabric.

In the meantime I got out my other project and started working up some more of the blocks.
This is as far as I've gotten on the quilt when I last put it aside.  I do have more blocks made just not sewn to the quilt.

Since I've started hexie(ing) I can't sit and watch TV now without them in my hands.  Love working on them.
I think I'll spend a little time at the machine today but then settle back in my reclyner and enjoy my hexis today/tonight.

Sew for now..... Have a great day. And stitch happy!

Slow (un)Stitching Sunday....

Getting ready to watch our Chiefs play this afternoon while I unstitch 57 pairs of tumblers.
These will go in the border of Brett's Christmas snuggle and I was just having a wonderful time pairing them together and stitching along.

Something made me stop and check the first one.....

Well Dang!!

Sooooo guess I'll have something to do while watching football.  LOL
And I'll link to Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday

I hope you're having a great Sunday.

New Week starts.....

I have absolutely NO appointments - meetings - games etc. to go to this week.  I can't even remember the last time I had a complete week free to do whatever I want.  Right here at home and I intend to enjoy it!!
The super HOT temps have broken and we've even had rain.  Just a couple inches but soooo needed and definitely welcomed.

So until I head back to my sewing room I thought I'd show you the latest on my hexie project.    I now have eight 'blocks' made and a whole lot of individual hexies basted and ready to go.
I know I'll be working on more hexies today as we watch KC Chiefs play.  It's so good to be excited about them again.  It's been a long time coming and they may not be a powerhouse this year but at least they give us something to cheer about.   Go Chiefs!!  lol

Slow Sunday....

This last week was one crazy ride.  And I mean that literally!
Ride: as in riding in a car to go to a Dr appt.
From Tuesday through Friday one of us had an appt to keep.  So we were traveling South one day and then North the next.... then wash and repeat.
I think I'm beginning to really dislike the inside of our car!!

Sooooo to help me unwind I've spent yesterday and today basting hexies.  I want to get a good supply ready so I will be able to make each 'block' different.

I've cut more greens and browns but I still need to pull blues and dark reds and perhaps a few dark purples.  Looks like I'll be scrounging in my scrap drawers.   Here are all the basted hexies so far.

And I did get one more block stitched together.   It looks very bright and loud when it's displayed with the others .... so I may not use it in this project.  I'll see.

Here they are all lined up.  See what I mean?  Yeah!  It's bright all right!

and since I haven't shared my hand stitching lately I'll link over on Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Slow Stitching Sunday...

Today Kathy is talking about Hoops (Kathy's Quilts: Slow Stitching Sunday) So I figured I would link to her post and show the hoop I use for my embroidery.
I love this hoop!  It's a spring hoop and so easy to move around.  I just grip the two 'handles' and quickly move the solid hoop (on the back) just where I want it.  It's also easy to rotate those handles around to get them out of my threads way.
When I first started doing much embroidery I used the hoop that tightens with a screw thingy simply because that's all I knew about.  And if that's what grandma used then it was good enough for me.
Well.... not so much!!
I really really disliked having to unscrew that hoop to move it and then trying to decide where to center my fabric to get the most stitching in before I would have to move it again.
And then I found this one!!  I don't know what the name is or where I even bought it.  But I do know that I would never want to be without it.  It's just so easy to adjust the fabric just a little or a whole lot.
So with that I do think I'll spend a bit of my lazy afternoon with my hoop and fabric.
Have a great Sunday.

Just a quick edit.  After posting that I didn't know the name of this hoop I did a google search and found this.  http://www.joann.com/darice-spring-tension-hoop-5/prd12000/
