Hexie Friday update

I've managed to get a couple of triangles sewn together this week and another one almost finished.

And I also finished the last item that I'll donate for our Guild Auction to be held the first of August October.  I'm rather amazed that I'm ahead of schedule.
Here's the Halloween set:
Today I'll be cutting out the pieces for one more Christmas snuggle quilt.
And I'm a day late but I'm still going to link over on Quilting Readers Garden for Hexie Friday.
I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Monday......

.... And my wall is empty.  These last couple of days I did manage to get the binding made and attached on the table topper for our Guilds Auction.   Another finish feels good.
This is my #2 auction item.
The Quilt Bugs did the quilting for me.  A simple meander.
It measures 40" square

So now I'm working on getting my last guild auction item quilted.  (the halloween placemats and runner).
I'm linking to Judy's Design Wall Monday.

Monday and I'm back.

   Hi everyone.  I'm back.
I know!  I know!   I've been away from my blog for way too long.
But I've had a lot going on around here and we've been away celebrating.   I'll post about all that later.  And yes I will show you my new floor.  ;o)

But right now it's still Monday and for the first time in all these last weeks I finally have something new to share on my design wall.  Of course I'll be linking over on Judy's Design Wall.  One of my favorite places to visit.

Remember I told you that our guild is having our auction this fall and we are each  asked to donate at least three items.   I have two made already and have been mulling around several different ideas trying to settle on just one more.
Well.... Saturday rolled around and all of a sudden I realized the theme I wanted to use.
Several months ago I had purchased a Halloween Layer Cake from the Fat Quarter Shop along with three matching 1 yd cuts of fabric (orange with black bats, blue with black flying witches and a border print)

I pulled them all off the shelf and proceeded to cut the 10" squares into fourths and then sashed them with a black 1½" strip.
I sewed a few of those 5" sashed blocks together and ended up with a small table runner.  It just needed something more so I cut a 9" square in half diagonally and added them to the ends to finish it.
For the placemats I decided to cut some of the 5" blocks in half and sewed seven together to give me the width I wanted and bordered them with black and added the orange bat fabric.
 TaDa..... Here I go.....
#3 auction item ..... Small table runner (12"x41"  still needs trimmed) and two placemats (13"x19").  I'll be binding them all in black once I get the quilting finished.

AND......I still have 16 of the 5" sashed blocks left to make a nice sized table topper that would fit my dining table nicely.   I plan on using the border print to finish it and I'll use the blue witches as the backing for the placemats & runner.
That should take care of all the Halloween fabric.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

My Wall....

I finally finished the pineapple top yesterday.  It measures about 40" square.
I know it's taken me forever but I just haven't been feeling too good lately so I haven't been sewing much.
I love how it turned out and I'm going to hate to donate it when our guild auction comes around.
But I'm just going to have to suck it up and get over it.  Dang!!  hahaha

Here's a closeup.

I still need to get it quilted but for now I'm setting it aside so I can start on a small wall hanging that a friend wants me to make for her.  This should be fun.

I'm heading on over to Judy's Design Wall Monday to link to her post.
Come on along and join me.
I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

What's on my Design Wall?

Four blocks sewn together and a whole lot of little stringy threads.  That's what's on my wall!  haha
It's been a slow sewing week for me but I have managed to get three more blocks made since I took this picture.  They're still in the pile waiting for more to be finished.

This week has been filled with other things than sewing it seems.  A couple of days spent picking out new flooring for my sewing room and the other bedroom.  Then changing my mind and choosing something else.   We're finally getting rid of that godawful 40 year old carpet that we put in there when we built the house.
Go ahead and snicker..... you all know the kind of carpet I'm talking about.
Yes that's right!!  Shag!!!  OMGosh what were we thinking??!!
Well anyway.... the last of May we'll be busy clearing out the two rooms so the guy can have a clear shot at laying the new floor.  I'm looking forward to not having carpet in there so it will be easier to clean.

And a couple more days were spent getting the camper advertised and showing it to a couple of different people and gladly one couple bought it.  Soooo glad that is done!

This week I plan to spend more time sewing for sure.  For now I'm linking to Judy's Design Wall Monday post so head on over to see what others have been doing.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.  We shared the day with our son's family (even though the girls were not able to get home from college -- sadly) with delicious grilled hamburgers and mouthwatering salads.   A warm sun and blue sky allowed us to enjoy a relaxing afternoon outside.

Today I'm planning on working on my latest project for our Guild Auction.  A pineapple table topper.....

Blocks finish at 7" and there will be a total of 16 to complete the center.
I'll add a couple of borders to finish it off and I'll then have two out of the three projects for the Auction completed.
I love these fabric colors!!
So now I'm going to link over on Judy's Design Wall and check out what other quilters have been working on.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda

Tea Pot Pad & Mug Rugs....

After getting all the quilting finished I needed to audition some fabrics for the binding.  I knew I didn't want a red or white plain binding so I started pulling some colors that I thought might work.
No No No

Ummm No....

?? Ummm Maybe ...

I kinda like this one..... But....

Nope.
Sooooo since I wasn't liking any of these I started digging around in the black/white pile and found this one.

Yep!  This is the one.

The Tea Pot Pad is 9" and the Mug Rugs are 6" each.
One Auction item done and two more to go.

I hope you're having a great day. Glad you stopped by.....Linda
