Good Monday morning!  The string blocks worked!!  I was hoping I would come up with a new quilt if I just relaxed and sewed mindlessly on my string blocks.
Riviera II Quilting Fabric  I now have a new quilt started and I'm loving it so far.

Connecting Threads came out with this new updated collection called Riviera II.   I love these fabrics.  ALL of them!!  Soooo of course I sent off an order immediately and I  knew exactly what I was going to make with them.

This is as far as I've gotten but I wanted to show you these blocks.  The last strip will be sewn on each block and I'll show you the completed blocks later ..... along with the pattern.
Stay tuned.

And stop in at Judy's Design Wall Monday to check out what some of the other quilters have been working on.
Have a great day and.....

A couple of years ago I ordered a complete fabric line from Connecting threads called Aqua Terra.  It is no longer available so that definitely means that it is time to use it up and make room in my stash.

I enjoyed coming up with designs to use up all of my old Christmas fabrics so I'm going to do the same thing with these.
So yesterday I pulled all of the fabrics and started cutting strips of 7.5" and 2.5" wide.

I have a plan and I'm pretty sure I can get at least one large quilt and a nice size snuggle plus a topper or runner out of all of these and the scraps that I have leftover from the first quilt I made with these fabrics.

I used my Go Tumbler die and cut large tumblers out of the 7.5" strips.  I can get 6 tumblers out of one strip and I've only used one strip of each pattern so far....so I still have a lot of fabric to play with.
I decided to try a different layout so I just slapped these up on my design wall. >>>>>>

Hummmm!!  That's interesting.  I may keep this layout since I've already made one brown tumbler that was all mixed up.  So now I have to cut just a few more to fill in that bottom.

It's so nice to have the Go Cutter do it's thing with these.  Made short work of cutting that's for sure.
And if you haven't been over to Judy's Design Wall to see what others have been working on..... grab your cuppa and click on that link.
Oh and just in case you haven't seen enough of all the Orca Bay's that have been showing up these last few months......Bonnie is having her final link-up for the Orca Bay mystery.  You just have to go check them out!!

Last week went by so fast and here it is .... Design Wall Monday again.
This is what I've been working on this week.  The very last of my Christmas fabric (Wrap It Up from Connecting Threads) in the #3 Christmas snuggle quilt.  I'll have a few bits and pieces left over to go into the scrap drawers but almost all of this fabric line has been used up.  Yeah for me!!

In my last post I told you where my design idea came from.  Once I finished cutting and setting the basic blocks together and cutting off the wast half squares.... I decided I could probably combine both blocks into one snuggle quilt instead of making two table toppers  like I thought I was originally going to make.

Somehow.... in the process of making the blocks....I goofedPhotobucketand added the corner fabric on the wrong side of some of the strip blocks.
I don't know!  Don't ask how!  Because I sure didn't know I was doing it at the time and only when I started putting them on the wall did I figure it out.  So the joining 'stars' aren't the same on all blocks but I think I can still make this work without really drawing attention to my goof..  There will be many more Pinwheels that will be added.  I do think the design in my head is starting to come together.

Happy Monday everyone.  And if you haven't already been there....head on over to Judy's Patchwork Times to check out what other quilters have been working on.

So OK this isn't my Design Wall but it's as close as I can get right now.  These are the scraps that are left of the Christmas fabrics I've been using to make these last two snuggle quilts.  I'll also add some of the yardage cuts to be able to get at least two nice sized table toppers out of these fabrics.  By the time I get the backings pieced I should pretty much have no fabric left in this Christmas line.

I saw this Serendipity tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt Co.YouTube and decided this pattern would be perfect for the strips I have left.

My Christmas Tumbler quilt top is now finished.  It finished about 57" x 76".  A nice sized snuggle quilt.  Now to get it quilted for Christmas.

Have a happy & fun Halloween and stop on over to Design Wall Monday to see what other quilters have been doing.

Since it's Design Wall Monday over at Patchwork Times I figured I'd show what's on my wall again this week. Not much has changed on the wall since I posted last Tuesday but I do have a bit more of the small tumblers in progress.

45 more of these 3.5" tumblers for the border are half done.  They would have been all done if I would have sewn them right the first time.  As I was zipping right along the other day I was down to about the last 8 tumblers....and realized .... I was sewing them all wrong.  I had put the split tumbler on upside down!!  Soooo I spent the next hour or two froggin'!  And re-sewing the first side.

This is how I'm bordering the tumblers along the edge of the quilt and the border strip.   I fold the border  tumbler in half lengthwise and press the fold...then slide my scissors into the fold and cut it in half.   One half goes on the right side and the other half on the left.  Super easy and no waste.

Now I'm going out to watch the guys pour our new driveway.  We are replacing our old cracked and broken cement porch and driveway this week.  I'ts been very interesting to watch the guys tearing up and reforming the new.  One more week and we'll be able to put our car back in the garage.
