Another Monday and another quiet week around here. I woke up this morning with a thick layer of fresh new snow that somehow made a sneaky appearance in the night.
The last couple of days I've spent a bit of time in the sewing room and have at least made a small bit of headway on the brown quilt. I had all those scraps left over from cutting the tumbler with the Go.... soooo trying not to add them to my bulging scrap drawer I thought... why not use them on this quilt.
I started sewing a few together and decided I kinda liked the wacky stripes. So I kept sewing and then started adding straight 1.5" strips until I had enough to make a good start. I'm going to keep working on these to finish the borders. I'm also going to use that very dark brown stop border. I really like this one!
haha but I say that about all don't I?
Most of this last week has been spent working on trying to relearn how to knit. I do remember the basic knit and purl but I'm having trouble figuring out how to go back, transferring stitches to correct my mistakes. And believe me....I make a lot of mistakes and need to know how to accurately go back. I'll keep reading and watching videos until I figure it out.
I'm also going to get me a nice set of needles to use. I had a circular set so I started using them and I don't think I like them to knit a scarf. The 'cord' seems too stiff. They might be fine for socks or something larger....but a scarf is about my limit for now so straight needles will be better for me I think.
So for now I decided I can crochet better and quicker and easier so I'm back to what I know and a new scarf has been started. Same bamboo yarn just a different color-way.
If you want to check out some other quilters progress head on over to Patchwork Times.

It's Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times.....
I love my Go cutter!!
It would have taken me hours and hours to cut all these tumblers if I would have had to do them with a ruler and rotary.
With the Go all I had to do was layer assorted fabrics and run them through the cutter and TaDa!
Cut perfectly!
Even the dogears are gone and it's a breeze to line them up and chain piece the rows.
I do have at least half of the rows sewn together but I stopped for the weekend.
So now today I'm ready to get back to sewing while I ponder what I want to do for the borders. Hummmm??
Our winter weather has moved in sooner than they had predicted. The snow has started and the ground is now completely white. Total accumulation for our area: 6to10 inches OR 5to8 inches....so does one or two inches really make that much difference???
Right about now I'm really ready to find that "Groundhog" and whack it upside the head!
Stay warm!!

This is how far along I am right now and I'm not at all satisfied with the way it has gone together. Or rather the way I sewed it together! The bias edges got the better of me and I am going to have to take this apart and redo the white strips.
I don't know what I was thinking....but it sure wasn't about sewing rules that's for sure.
Ok....it's bad! But it really isn't as bad as it looks in this picture. lol I will keep working on it and get it finished (because I do like it) but for now I'm not going to stress about it and I'm moving onto the next color for March.
BROWN!
Check it out here.
I know Spring is somewhere close because these babies are here and hungry. The goldfinches arrived a few days ago and are feeding like crazy. They've already cleaned up a lot of the cone flower heads and now that Don has bought some thistle seed for them they have moved to those feeders and swarming at the sunflower feeder.
Sorry about the very bad picture taken through my screened kitchen window :o(
So maybe if I change my blog I can hurry Spring along a bit!
