My new toy(s) arrived yesterday!!
(this is not a pic of mine...I grabbed this from the Accuquilt website)
Actually I ordered mine from a couple in Florida and she called me personally to talk to me and she was so helpful. Just in case you're interested in a Go for yourself...give these people your order. The Quilting Machine Shop Great service!
I have it all unpacked and stacked up and I've even managed to cut some strips. Amazing how it works!
So today I'm going to try to hurry and get my Violet top finished so I can play with my scraps. Maybe I can make a dent in at least one of the scrap drawers.
And.....I know what next months pattern will be!
This crazy Kansas weather!!! I thought Spring was supposed to be early this year. :o(
Over night we have had another snow flurry and the forecast is calling for freezing drizzle today and rain tomorrow and thunderstorms tomorrow evening. Sheesh!!
I'm going to ignore them!! Maybe it won't happen.

Here it is...a good Sunshiny morning and Design Wall Monday again. Goodness the weeks just fly by it seems.
I've been slowly piecing my 'Violet' quilt this week and designing it as I go along.
I'm loving this Monochromatic Challenge that Judy has each month. Not only does it stretch me to work with colors that I would probably never use....but it also has given me the confidence to twist something simple around and design my own layout.
So far both of the quilts I've chosen have been tweaked enough by me to call them "Mine"!
I may have started with someones basic block (or EQ) but by the time I think and re-think and change my mind about the plan....it ends up being completely me.
And I must be doing something right. Don walked into the room yesterday and saw this on the wall and said "That's really pretty"! lol Of course he probably just likes the colors and wasn't really commenting on the talent it took to put it together. hahaha
Stay tuned....there's still more to come with this design.
AND....I just have to show you the scarf and how far along I've gotten. I probably have about six more inches left to do with this ball then I'll add the second one to finish. Such a super easy pattern I found here but works up to look very nice I think. This bamboo yarn is very unusual. It's slippery and flat so it takes a bit more concentration to make sure the stitches stay on the hook the way they're supposed to. Regular yarns will kinda 'grab' themselves when making a stitch...but this slick stuff doesn't. Click that bottom picture to bring it in close so you can really see what I'm talking about. It feels awesome to the touch and it's rather heavy! That's surprising me.

And if you want to see what other quilters are up to head on over to Judy's Patchwork Times and spend good quality time just browsing blogs. Great talent out there!!
Have a great day!!

I have a start on my Feb Violet quilt using Bonnie Hunter's Pioneer Braid pattern. When I first started sewing it together I really hadn't settled on a size for the quilt.
I was toying with the idea of making another topper (and I did have an idea how I could do it) but after letting it stew for the afternoon I've decided I'll save my idea for a different colorway.
This one will be a straightforward snuggle quilt.

OMGosh Chrispy....what was I thinking. I must have had a foggy chocolate brain freeze lol
This little cake is only about 6" across and it is soooo rich I can only eat a small piece at a time. I've had two pieces from it so far.
This is what is left of the pretty red rose and two chocolate lace leaves. Sweet Chocolate!!! Now this frosting is NOT seme-sweet anything.....it is Real Sweet Fudgy Sugary Chocolate!!
Now if this doesn't make your mouth water and your chocolate craving kick in....I don't know what will! Ahhhhh

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! I have the most delicious cake in my kitchen from my dear hubby. It could very well be my death by chocolate. OMGosh it is GOOD!!
I had a nice experience today. I decided to go to our local Shepherd's Mill and see what I could find to make some scarves. (OK Deb you can stop begging now) haha
I hadn't been to their shop since they moved to the new location and Oh My... they have some beautiful yarns. I really had to talk to myself to keep from buying everything I saw. I finally settled on these three for now. They're bamboo and are just awesome done up in a scarf. They had two finished to show and that sold me! I've decided I can't make socks...but I sure can make scarves.
Yesterday I did manage to get some of my fabrics cut for the Feb "Violet" Challenge over at Judy L's. Here are the fabrics I managed to pull from my stash. I now have them cut down to 2.5 x 6" bricks. Tomorrow I'll get some of the sewing done. That is if I can stay away from the yarns. lol
Well since it's still officially Monday I'm going to head on over the Patchwork Times and post this on her Design Wall Monday. Go check it out to see what others are doing.
I'm going to go get me a nice piece of cake. yummmm!!!

Our son-in-laws' stepdad was buried on his 90th birthday Tuesday. And it just so happened that a winter storm blew in the morning of the funeral and it was bitter cold and snowing and had already dumped around 4 to 5 inches. After the funeral the kids waited a day for the storm to pass and left Thursday morning and thankfully, didn't run into any problems getting back home.
So .... yesterday I spent a few hours finishing the quilting on my yellow topper. It has the binding sewn on and I'm stitching it down slowly as I watch tv.
I did have to mark the straight lines on the geese so there is still a little of the blue marker showing in the picture. That is now gone.
And.....I think I've settled on a name.... From now on it will be my 'Flying Sunshine'. Much better than a knockoff submarine song don't you think?
Oh and look what the mailman had for me today.....
I've got a lot of cutting to do.
For now I'm off to get started on my February "Violet" quilt from Judy's Monochromatic Challenge.

Never mind that bump!
That's just the double doors on the closet that I use for my design wall. I have batting stuck to the doors.
It does make it a bit tricky sometimes trying to lay out pieces and bits as I design each top. But it's sure better than carrying those pieces and bits to an open floor to lay them out.
Oh wait!!
This isn't about my doors..... it's about the "Yellow" challenge in January.
Soooo (even tho I've already posted this) here is a different picture of my Yellow finished top. I'm in the process of quilting it now but I wanted to go ahead and get this posted to Judy's Monochromatic Challenge post.
Oh....and about the quilting I was going to do with a walking foot.
Ummmm Not using it!
hahaha
OMGosh I don't know what it is about this quilt!
Thanks for stopping by.... Now I've got to go quilt some more on this thing before I change my mind!
